Ice Racing

Ice Racing is a nice something-to-do on a chilly winter day. The drivers are warm in their cars and spectators are warm in theirs. The workers are dressed to stand in the cold, but on really, really, cold days they can alternate in the cars at the work stations.

The race cars are classed as to tires. Some cars run winter tires from various manufacturers, after appropriate research to specifications. No one wants to get caught with "bad" winter tires. The other class of cars runs on studded tires. These are usually "home-made" with a specific style of stud, none of which are suitable for street driving. They are placed in the "best" pattern to get the most grip in corners and on the straights. The studded-tired cars run faster but the rubber-tired cars need a lot more finesse in driving. Neither class is a very expensive car to prepare, compared to other race cars. At the moment, all the race cars are front-wheel drive.

WHAT'S UP IN 2009!

The days are getting shorter and we know what that means. The 2010 Ice Racing Season is on the horizon.

I have posted the proposed schedule. We know this is always "proposed" because of many other conditions that can wreak havoc with the sites. We will do the best we can.
